In March 2020, CSUF held its first-ever #TitansGive Day of Giving, a 24-hour fundraising marathon across the University that raised more than $239,000. The annual event is part of the “It Takes a Titan” campaign, which invests in projects that promote academic innovation, student empowerment, campus infrastructure improvement, and community enrichment.
Just two years later, on March 9, 2022, Titans more than doubled that initial amount, raising a record-breaking $491,900 on the 2022 Day of Giving. Students, alumni, faculty, staff, friends, and families came together to show their support for the University, and the College of Engineering & Computer Science did its part to help make the campaign a success.
ECS Titans Don’t Hold Back for 2022
The 2022 Day of Giving featured donations from around the world, with gifts coming from Canada, Australia, South Korea, and 49 states in the U.S. More than 1,960 donors participated, raising 8 percent more than in 2021.
The online event featured an assortment of fundraising and matching challenges, many with big-name sponsors who gave generously. California Bank & Trust donated $10,000 to CSUF’s highest priorities when 500 donors chipped in before 5 p.m. The Early Bird, Lunch Hour, and Happy Hour challenges matched a total of $27,071 in donations, doubling their impact.
PepsiCo also sponsored challenges for the 2022 Day of Giving. The area that brought in the largest number of donors, the student who recruited the largest number of donors, and the area that brought in the most funds were each awarded bonus donations from PepsiCo that totaled $25,000. Students who won the recruitment challenge could direct the funds to an area of their choice.
Though the event was primarily online, 2022’s Day of Giving also included on-campus activities for the first time since its inception. Students had the opportunity to sign thank-you cards for the donors, and everyone was treated to a surprise flash mob performance by CSUF’s mascot, Tuffy, and students.
Overall, ECS raised an impressive $10,141 for the 2022 event, with more than $5,500 of it coming from the computer engineering program alone.
